The Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Morgan Freeman...and Sidney Poitier

When Sir Sidney Poitier present Morgan Freeman with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 69th Golden Globes, he got the longest standing ovation and he was not even a nominee or won a Golden Globe.

The 84 year old legend command the attention of the audience. In his speech, he said to Freeman that he raised the level of excellence another notch, a Freeman is the prince in the profession he had chosen.

Sir Sidney Poitier became the first black actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in 'Lilies of the Field' in 1963.

When it was Morgan Freeman's turn to take the stage, he said that "Watching you handle a gun makes me realize I never want to piss you up Mr. Poitier. although they call this the Cecile B. De Mille award, in my house they also call it the Sidney Poitier award."
